Questions

Residential openers FAQ

Belt or chain drive opener?

Belt drives are much quieter, which matters with a bedroom above the garage. Chain drives cost a bit less and are fine for detached garages.

Why does my garage door reverse before it closes?

Usually the safety sensors near the floor are misaligned, dirty or blocked. Wipe the lenses and make sure both lights are steady. If it still reverses, the opener's force or travel settings may need adjusting, which we can do on the first visit.

Is my opener broken, or is it the spring?

If the opener runs but the door barely moves or stops after a few inches, check the springs first. A broken spring makes the door too heavy to lift, and running the opener can strip its gears.

Which garage door brands do you carry?

We install Amarr, Haas, Delden and Doorlink doors, and LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie openers.
